Everyday that we do school, we include calendar time. My girls love calendar time mainly because they get to go check the weather, it's the little things, and they earn a sticker for completing their calendar notebooks.
The stickers are Lisa Frank "special" stickers that they place on the back of the notebook. They love counting how many stickers they've earned and littlest sister loves picking them off if we leave the notebook out! Earning stickers has been a big motivator in doing calendar time and they love to sing the songs for the days of the week and months of the year. Sometimes we do color hunts around the house and they have to go find stuff that we have that is the correct color. This has helped my 3 yr old learn colors, whereas before she could care less about what color an object was!
My husband had a binder machine and the materials to make these, but instead of making them bind on the side, I went for the top. I thought it would be easier to write on that way. I didn't use just one website to create my notebooks. I used many websites to find pages that I liked and then pieced them together to create my notebook for each child. They are essentially the same, but the calendar pages aren't filled in for my older child.
Here are the websites I used for the calendar printables, I didn't just use one site, I used a page from here that I liked and a format from here that I liked and used easier pages for my pre-K child and harder calendar pages for my Kinder child. I picked and chose which activities I liked and then went from there.http://www.1plus1plus1equals1.com/

For the covers I found this website which let me create and print monograms for free.
